LitterBoxRanker covers 39 self-cleaning litter boxes from 13 makers, and it starts from the question the box itself has to answer before every cycle: is there a cat inside?
Why the kitten threshold comes first
An automatic box is safe only while its sensors can tell a cat is there. Makers publish the lightest cat their sensor detects, when they publish it at all, in a line of small print. This site puts that number at the top of every page and orders the catalog by it: 27 boxes publish one, and 5 publish neither a weight nor an age, which the site says plainly rather than leaving a gap.
Two more figures are worked out the same way rather than copied: how many days a drawer really lasts for one, two or three cats, and what a proprietary tray or cartridge costs a month. The method for all of them is written out in full.
A blank is an answer
Every figure comes from the maker’s own product page, manual or FAQ, and every box page links to those sources, 71 of them across the catalog. Where a maker does not publish a number for that exact model, the cell is empty rather than borrowed from a sibling or estimated from a photo. That is why 154 cells are blank today: a drawer volume Whisker has never printed, a noise figure most makers skip, a detection weight a newer brand leaves out. The blank is the finding.
Who is behind it, and who is not
Two people build and maintain this in their own time. There is no office, no editorial staff and no test lab, and nothing here was measured by us. No maker pays for a place in the catalog, a position in a list or a word on its page, and there are no shop links of any kind, so no box here earns more by being recommended. What the site collects is one analytics tag and one browser key holding your filters.
Owner experience, kept separate
Some things only show up after months of use: a scale that drifts, a drawer sensor that reads full too soon, a cat that refuses the box. Where public owner discussion was read for a model it sits in its own section under its own heading, never blended into the specification copy. Coverage is 16 of 39; the other pages say so rather than showing an empty block.
How often this changes
The catalog was last refreshed on 2026-09-29, and that date drives the sitemap. Each refresh re-checks that every box is still sold new on its maker’s US store, because litter box lineups turn over quickly: the PETKIT PuraMax 2 and the Litter-Robot 3 Connect both left their makers’ stores before this catalog was built.
